The Warrenton community in the Frances District have received a new library that was officially opened on Friday, 26 April 2019. The H.O Kgadiete Community Library in Warrenton was handed by over to the community together with a new multipurpose sports facility by Head of Department of Sport, Arts and Culture Ms. Ruth Palm. She was accompanied by the Mayor of Frances Baard District Municipality Cllr. Patrick Marekwa and other dignitaries. The hand over formed part of 2019 Freedom Day's build up programmes.
The Frances Baard District office of Department of Sport, Arts and Culture opened H.O Kgadiate Study Library and a multi-purpose facility on Friday 26 April 2019. The proceedings were led by Frances Baard District Municipal Mayor Cllr. Patrick Marekwa alongside Head of Department Ruth Palm.
Honoring the late stalwart and his family for his dedication and service in Warrenton, it is only befitting that study library be named after him said Marekwa. Mr Kgadiate was a giant and custodian of education, having served 32 years of his life as an educator made him a force to be reckoned with. The young activist was a fearless revolutionary during the then apartheid era. He contributed as a peace officer, known for uniting and bringing people together. Rre Kgadiate as he was affectionately known served as interim Mayor for Warrenton Transitional Local Government from 1993 until 2000.
Cllr. Marekwa goes on to encourage the community to utilize the library to the fullest in order to better themselves in the world of literature, for it will open many doors for their lives. Head of Department Ruth Palm gave a detailed tour of the facility, taking the Kgadiate family through and showing them various benefits that the community now has, also emphasizing that the use of the facility is free and no one is to be charged for its use. “As government we are mandated to inculcate and able a reading nation, as we go out of our way to make these things possible for community members” said Palm.
The delegates then moved to the Warrenton Resort to open a multipurpose facility that is fully equipped to cater for various sporting codes. The Kgadiate family alongside Cllr. Marekwa and his delegates could not resist the field and played a game of basketball. "A healthy and active child is one with a better future, we hopes that both facilities will help keep the youth in Warrenton occupied and away from mischief". said Marekwa
