South Africa will mark National Reconciliation Day on the 16 December 2019 with a focus on language as a lever to foster greater reconciliation. The national event on the day will be held in KwaZulu-Natal under the theme: “The Year of Indigenous Languages: Supporting National Reconciliation Through the Promotion, Development and Preservation of Indigenous Languages.”
Northern Cape Department of Sport, Arts and Culture will commemorate the event at various venues in all the districts across the province. The Frances Baard District event will be held at Greenpoint High School while the event in the Pixley ka Seme District will be celebrated at Khwezi Community Hall in Hanover. Prophetic House of Praise in Upington will become a host venue for the event in the ZF Mgcawu District and Namakwa District patriots will gather at the Nababeep Junior Club for their celebrations. The commemoretion in the John Taolo Gaestewe District will be held at Seoding Community Hall in Kuruman.
