Department of Sport, Arts and Culture together with the ZF Mgcawu District and Recreation Council and stakeholders will be hosting the Kalahari Sport and Recreation Festival from Friday, 25 November to Sunday, 27 November 2022.
The festival will be held at JJ Adams School in Askham in the Kalahari, ZF Mgcawu District. The project will be held in honour of the area's School Sport Educators and Community Sport Legends. It will be held under the theme "To Educate, Empower and Entertain.
The Kalahari Sport and Recreation Festival will expose sports enthusiasts from the small Askham Village in the David Kruiper Local Municipality to a festivity of sporting line-up. Festivities will include Netball, Rugby and Football clinics.
They will be followed by a two kilometer Fun Run on Saturday morning before the roll out of a variety of sporting programmes such as Aerobics, Archery, Handball, Skateboard, Hockey, Chess, Indigenous Games as well as Modified Hockey amongst others. The sporting festivities will culminate in a prize giving Gala Event in honour of local Sport Educators and Community Sport Legends.
